Excavations around the northern Ōkura area reveal large-scale terrace creation, cut-stone paving, possible passages or foundations, imported ceramic jars, and masses of disposable earthenware cups. These finds broaden the Place beyond named rulers. They point to engineered ground, movement, consumption, and gatherings within a dense political city. Most remains were documented and covered or lie beneath current properties, so visitors do not encounter an open excavation park. Their contribution is methodological: famous texts and tomb traditions identify people, while archaeology recovers construction labor, imported goods, feasting, and everyday practices that made the government district function.
