Kutsukake Castle anchors the Imagawa approach to Okehazama. Tradition places Yoshimoto here on the eve of battle, while archaeology supplies firmer evidence for the castle's material life. The preserved park retains the main bailey, second bailey, Suwa enclosure, inner ditch, and samurai-residence zone. Excavation found ceramics, wooden objects, metalwork, and small wooden tags, including examples bearing a date equivalent to 1548. Those ordinary remains prevent the castle from becoming merely a famous commander's overnight stop: it was a functioning fortified settlement with storage, drainage, labor, and domestic routines before the campaign transformed its memory.
