Overview

Map: GSI Japan This distributed Place links the political center of the Kai Takeda at Tsutsujigasaki with the defensive mountain above it, the last capital at Shinpu Castle, and the memorial landscape at Keitoku-in near Tenmokuzan. Together they show a ruling house through government, urban formation, military architecture, hurried relocation, invasion, defeat, and later commemoration. The sites are separated by substantial travel and should not be presented as one walk. Surviving moats and earthworks, archaeological restorations, a 1919 shrine, and later graves belong to different historical layers.
