Attraction
The Shiki Memorial Museum opened in 1981 in Dogo Park as a literary museum, research institution, and gateway to Matsuyama history. It now holds approximately 70,000 original materials and books. Permanent galleries follow Shiki's life, family, work, and hometown, while special exhibitions and a digital archive make different parts of the corpus available over time. The permanent display was renewed in 2024 with new introductory interpretation, digital media, and a rotating 'masterpieces' area. Scale is not continuous visibility: fragile handwriting, books, drawings, and letters rotate for conservation and research reasons. The museum building is modern interpretive infrastructure several kilometres from Shiki-do, not another surviving residence or the location where the displayed works were composed.
