Attraction
The permanent exhibition is organized around six themes—Our Language, Our Universe, Our Lives, Our History, Our Work, and Our Exchange—and states that it introduces Ainu language, history, and culture from Ainu perspectives. That first-person structure is historically important. It resists arranging Ainu people as specimens observed only by outsiders and makes language part of the visitor's encounter through signs, panels, and audio resources. The exhibition also places Ainu homelands across Hokkaido, Sakhalin, the Kuril Islands, and parts of Tohoku, while extending its chronological frame from deep regional prehistory to the present. Temporary displays and specific objects rotate, so the durable Highlight is the museum's interpretive architecture rather than a promise that one item will always be on view.
