Attraction
The historical meaning of Ishibashiyama extends beyond the place of defeat. Yoritomo escaped into the mountain country, reached the coast, crossed to Awa, and gathered new backing before returning to Sagami and entering Kamakura. The marked battlefield is therefore the beginning of a route, not the full route itself. Caves, resting stones, and embarkation beaches elsewhere preserve many local traditions, but they should not all be merged into one certain itinerary. What is secure is the strategic sequence: dispersal, survival, maritime movement, renewed recruitment, and a return with a much broader eastern coalition.
